Easy Ways to Save Water and Money

Most water is used outdoors. Focus on water savings outside for big impacts and savings.

Water-saving tips: Adjust sprinklers, use shut-off nozzles, fix leaks, use smart controllers, and switch to drought-tolerant gardens.

Indoor Water Savings Add Up

  • Fix Leaky Toilets: A running toilet can waste gallons of water per minute. To check for leaks, add a few drops of dark food coloring to the tank. If colored water appears in the bowl, you have a leak. Adjusting the float or replacing the flapper can be done quickly and will save both water and money.
  • Stop All Types of Leaks: A small faucet leak can waste up to 170 gallons of water in 24 hours, and larger leaks can waste even more. Most issues can be resolved by replacing faucet aerators. You can also request conservation devices to be delivered to your doorstep!
  • Practice Efficient Water Use: Run dishwashers and washing machines with full loads, choose showers over baths, and avoid letting water run when not in use.

Tackling leaks quickly, reducing shower times, and minimizing outdoor watering are effective ways to conserve water year-round!
